Biography

Dr. Syed Shujat Husain is currently undertaking a Post-Doc focusing on the United Nation’s SDG Agenda 2030 and regional peace processes, particularly examining the role of media in resolving disputes within India-Pakistan relations. His study utilizes a mixed-method approach spanning from January 1st, 1999 to December 31st, 2022. Previously, he served as the Chairperson of the Media Studies Department at Jinnah University for Women, Karachi, until November 16th, 2023. Dr. Shujat is also recognized as an HEC Ph.D. Supervisor and has held positions as Assistant Professor at Ilma University, Lecturer at AIMS (AAWAZ Institute of Media & Management Sciences), and Teaching Assistant & Senior Visiting Faculty at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi. Additionally, he has served as an External Examiner for M.Phil./PhD candidates at various universities and held former roles within the academic administration and coordination at JUW, including being the institution’s Focal Person for ISPR.

Dr. Syed Shujat Husain holds membership in various esteemed organizations, including the US Institute of Peace, International Crisis Group, Karachi University Journalism Alumni Association (KUJAA), Pakistan Development Front (PDF), Karachi Editors Club, and serves as the President of HPF (Centre of Research & Skill Development).
