Information Resource Center (IRC)

Information Resource Centre (IRC) has more than 80000 books on different subjects, covering all curriculum topics, professional and general reading material. The latest editions of leading textbooks and reference publications are being continuously added to the IRC collection to meet the HEC, PEC & users’ requirements. The Information Resource Centre has an up-to-date record of Government publications relevant to the curriculum and is one of the best sources of secondary data. We subscribe to numerous national and international journals and online databases, including:

The online journals’ databases are widely used all over the globe and it gives access to the more than 10000 online journals. The students, faculty and staff members can access to these entire online resources through website http://www.iqra.edu.pk/main/digital-library/ from Iqra University IP address. The Library also subscribes IEEE and ACM journals via online as well as in the print format. We also subscribe more than 500 national and international journals for the students of Business, Engineering, Computer Science and Media Science. 67 international journals with more than 1 impact factor are also available in our collection. We also purchase more than 10 English, Urdu and Sindhi newspapers with multiple copies for Library users. Furthermore there are database of selected collection of classic movies in digitized format for the Media Science students, which may be watched through the MEDIAIRC Server.

The Information Resource Centre has its own the full text database of selected articles published in the local newspapers as well as in the bibliographic data of articles published in the national and international journals. Presently, there are more than 30000 articles in the IRC database and full text of articles can be retrieved and downloaded by using various searching techniques. There are more than 25000 E-books on different subjects which are also available in IRC Database.

The Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) service is being provided to the faculty, Phil & PhD students to facilitate their research activities. Monthly e-IRC Review which covers bibliographic information of newspapers articles, newly purchased books and any additional activities of the Library is being sent via emails to all faculty members for their information since 2000 without any interruption.

There are more than 90 computers available in the Library to facilitate the students for their routine work and research purpose. We have a policy for the continuous enhancement and updating of our collection through nonstop acquisition of material.

We are also in a process to provide on-line Library services by using the web base technologies.

IRC Facilities

Book Bank:

Book Bank for the Engineering Students has been established and all students of the Engineering Department can get 02 books issued for the whole semester without paying additional fee. This facility will also be extended to the students of the Business Administration in future.
