Dr. Sameer Hashmat Qazi
Director-ORIC
Dr. Sameer Qazi received the B.E. (Electrical) degree from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, in 2001, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2004 and 2009, respectively.
He is currently working as Director of ORIC, Iqra University. From Sep 2016- Mar 2024, he was Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, the College of Engineering, Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, Pakistan. Previously, he has worked as an Assistant Professor and the Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, DHA Suffa University, Pakistan (2015-2016) and as Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronics and Power Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology, Karachi ( NUST-PNEC), Pakistan (2010-2015). He has also worked for a few years in the industry in WorldCALL Broadband Ltd .
Ms. Zareesh Zahra
Manager ORIC
Zareesh Zahra is a dedicated and versatile professional with over 10 years of expertise in the dynamic field of Mass Communication and Academia. She seamlessly navigates through the intricate tapestry of the industrial and academic sectors. Her expertise includes developing and executing research, innovation, commercialization, communication strategies, and relationship management across various industries, focusing on communication, academia-industry linkages, stakeholder management, sustainability initiatives, and government relations and policy-making. Zareesh earned her Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degree in Mass Communication, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence. She has various research collaborations with international professors.
Zareesh, as the Manager at the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at IQRA University, plays a crucial role in enhancing research innovations, obtaining grants, and overseeing projects that are in line with the institution’s vision. She serves as a bridge between the academic and industrial sectors, excelling in training and guiding faculty and researchers in research development, project submission, and grant procurement. Moreover, Zareesh leads technology transfer efforts, providing direction for innovations throughout the licensing and commercialization process. Leveraging her extensive knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights, she ensures that valuable research discoveries are brought to the market for the benefit of society.
Prior to her current role, Zareesh served as Assistant Manager at ORIC SZABIST University. She was instrumental in establishing the office and boosting it to an X category in HEC scoring, as one of the early contributors to ORIC at SZABIST. Zareesh’s extensive understanding of ORIC’s operations was complemented by her specialization as an ORIC scorecard expert, having acted as the scorecard focal person for five years. Furthermore, she was the Ignite focal person for four consecutive years, overseeing SZABIST’s attainment of the highest number of Ignite fundings. Additionally, she served as the NIB focal person, resulting in three groups securing funding. Zareesh also played a key role in organizing ZAB e Fest for three consecutive years, where ORIC not only assessed projects but also provided seed money for promising initiatives. She also holds the additional charge as Advisor to President for specific period of time.
Her career extends beyond academia, having worked with TV channels like GEO, ARY, and Dawn News, contributing to media production, marketing, and research. As Senior Media Director for Young Social Reformers, she led media collaborations and conducted impactful events. Zareesh has received training and certifications, working experience from institutions like IBA-CEJ, Alliance Française, Reuters UNICEF, US Consulate, Goethe, and UNESCO.
Zareesh also delves into topics such as mental wellbeing, media ethics, media effects, and artificial intelligence. Through her research, lectures, training, and public speaking, she instills inspiration and knowledge in individuals globally, driven by her dedication to meaningful communication.
Ms. Rabab Saeed
Research Associate – ORIC
As a dedicated professional with a solid academic foundation in psychology and extensive training in research methodologies, Ms. Rabab Saeed brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in academic research. With a Bachelor’s degree and ongoing M.Phil from the University of Karachi, complemented by specialized research training, her commitment to scholarly inquiry is underscored by a publication in an HEC-recognized journal, reflecting her proficiency in contributing to the academic discourse.
Ms. Rabab Saeed’s career trajectory includes significant roles where she honed data collection, analysis, and reporting skills within rigorous research frameworks. These experiences have equipped her with the ability to navigate complex datasets and derive meaningful insights that inform evidence-based decision-making.
Additionally, Ms. Rabab Saeed’s tenure of working under the projects of UNDP and UNICEF projects has enriched her understanding of community-based interventions along with broader socio-economic contexts. This hands-on involvement has not only sharpened her research skills but also instilled a deep-rooted commitment to promoting community well-being and resilience-building strategies.
In pursuit of joining ORIC, she is eager to leverage her interdisciplinary background and expertise to contribute to innovative research initiatives, foster collaborative partnerships, and drive impactful outcomes that align with the organization’s mission of advancing research excellence and societal well-being.
Mr. Muhammad Imran Ahmed

Mr. Muhammad Imran Ahmed, with 5 years of experience, has demonstrated proficiency in providing essential operational and administrative support in various roles. His expertise includes maintaining office cleanliness, supporting event setup, and assisting with day-to-day logistical tasks. Known for his strong attention to detail, time management, and punctuality, he ensures smooth functioning in the workplace. His adaptability, reliability, and ability to collaborate effectively with teams make him an asset to ORIC, contributing to a professional and well-organized environment.
