Information Resource Center (IRC)

Information Resource Centre (IRC) has a different type of material based on different programs and different subjects, covering all curriculum topics, and professional, including general reading material. The latest editions of leading textbooks and reference publications are being continuously added to the IRC collection to meet the HEC, PEC & and other councils’ and students’ requirements. The Information Resource Centre has an up-to-date record of Government publications relevant to the curriculum and is one of the best sources of secondary data. We subscribe to numerous national and international journals and online databases, including :

The online journals’ databases are widely used all over the globe and they give access to more than 20,000 online journals. The students, faculty, and staff members can access these entire online resources through the website http://www.iqra.edu.pk/main/digital-library/ from the Iqra University IP address. The Library also subscribes to ACM journals online as well as in print format. We also subscribe to more than 500 national and international journals for students of Business, Engineering, Medical Science, Education and social science, Computer Science, AIFD, and Media Science. We also purchase more than 10 English, Urdu, and Sindhi newspapers with multiple copies for Library users. Furthermore, there is a database of selected collections of classic movies in digitized format for Media Science students, which may be watched through the MEDIAIRC Server.

The Information Resource Centre has its full-text database of selected articles published in the local newspapers as well as in the bibliographic data of articles published in the national and international journals. Presently, there are more than 30, 000 articles in the IRC database, and the full text of articles can be retrieved and downloaded by using various searching techniques. There are more than 25000 E-books on different subjects which are also available in IRC Database. The Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) service is being provided to the faculty, Phil & PhD students to facilitate their research activities.

The computers are available to facilitate the students for their routine work and research purposes. We have a policy for the continuous enhancement and updating of our collection through nonstop acquisition of material.

We are also in the process of providing online Library services by using web-based technologies.

IRC Facilities

Book Bank:

A Book Bank for Engineering, Business, Media Science, Education and social science, and Medical Students has been established and all students of the Engineering Department can get 03 books issued for the whole semester without paying an additional fee. This facility will also be extended to the students of Business Administration in the future.
