Iqra University proudly welcomed renowned Pakistani professional boxer Mr. Usman Wazeer to its main campus, where he was greeted with enthusiasm and admiration by students, faculty, and sports enthusiasts. Mr. Wazeer, widely celebrated as the “Asian Boy” for his international boxing achievements, visited the university to share his journey, motivate young athletes, and promote sports excellence among Pakistan’s youth.
During his visit, Mr. Wazeer met with the Director Sports, Dr. Syed Sheraz Mohani, toured the sports facilities, and addressed his professional journey to the students. He emphasized the importance of discipline, dedication, and resilience in the pursuit of sporting excellence.
Dr. Mohani after congratulating Mr. Wazeer on extending his undefeated professional record to 16-0 after his stunning victory against Indian boxer spoke about the challenges in the field of sports in whole and specifically at the university level. He further spoke about the achievements and the role Iqra University has played in the field of sports in terms of offering scholarships and participation of the students at different levels.
Mr. Usman Wazeer acknowledged the efforts Iqra University is playing in the field of sports and also emphasized on the importance of sports at the grass-root level. He further stated that Pakistan has a bright future in sports however institutes need to step up and play a crucial role in shaping the generation of champions.
The students had the opportunity to interact directly with the boxing star, followed by a commemorative shield presentation in recognition of his contributions to Pakistani sports.
The legend boxer, Mr. Ali Bux Baloch, Pakistan Boxing team coach, expressed gratitude to Iqra University for arranging Mr. Wazeer’s visit, stating, “We are honored to have a national hero who continues to bring pride to Pakistan. His visit has ignited passion and ambition in our players, and we hope that this momentum will be carried forward.”
