Iqra University and Robert Gordon University (Scotland) Unite for International Academic Collaboration

In a ground-breaking move to strengthen academic ties, Iqra University (IU), Pakistan and Robert Gordon University (RGU), Scotland have joined forces to create opportunities for academic excellence and cultural exchange. The partnership was formalized during a high-profile delegation visit from RGU to IU’s Main Campus on April 10th, 2025.

The delegation, led by Professor Lynn Kilbride, Deputy Vice Chancellor of RGU, included prominent academic leaders such as Dr. John Isaacs, Dean of the School of Computing and Engineering Technology, and Dr. Dan Allen, Dean of Grays School of Art and Acting & Dean of the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment, alongside distinguished representatives from the Pakistan-UK & Ireland Business Council of FPCCI including Mr. Imran Khalil Naseer, Mr. Asfandyar Farrukh, Ms. Atteqa Malik, Mr. Arslan Ijaz, and Mr. Ahsan Jabbar.

“I have now visited Iqra University twice and I am delighted to say that its vision and mission align closely with those of Robert Gordon University,” stated Professor Lynn Kilbride.

“The values of approachability, authenticity, and collaboration have truly inspired us to pursue a closer partnership with Iqra University. Their passion for the communities they serve is evident. Moreover, the standard of education offered here is excellent. We are excited to explore collaborative programs that will enhance the student experience not only in Pakistan but also in Scotland—and enrich the learning journeys of our staff members as well,” she added.

The collaboration encompasses various initiatives, including fellowship education programs, progression pathway degree programs in Data Sciences, Cyber Security and AI, and creative industry partnerships. The event featured comprehensive presentations from both institutions, highlighting their respective strengths and shared vision for the future.

Dr. Jeanette Forbes, Ambassador for the Pakistan Scottish Chamber of Commerce, participating virtually, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “This relationship definitely will go further, and we are going to explore a number of avenues for collaboration. This is a very good opportunity for the exchange of culture, exchange of ideas, and exchange of everything with mutual interest between the two universities.”

Mr. Imran Khalil Naseer, Chair of Pakistan-UK & Ireland Business Council, FPCCI also found it inspiring to see two prestigious institutions coming together to create opportunities for the next generation.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) marked the formal commencement of this international academic cooperation, focusing on education, research, and professional development through joint initiatives.

Prof. Dr. Nassar Ikram, Vice Chancellor of Iqra University expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “This collaboration represents a significant milestone in our journey towards international academic excellence. By joining hands with RGU, we are opening new doors of opportunity for our students and faculty while strengthening the educational bonds between Pakistan and Scotland.”

The event concluded with a campus tour and shield distribution ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of a promising international academic partnership.
