Iqra University’s 25th Degree Awarding Ceremony: A Celebration of Excellence and Innovation

Iqra University Islamabad recently held its Degree Awarding Ceremony on completion of their 25 years. Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani graced the occasion with his keynote address delivered under the aegis of education and future prospects for Pakistan.

The ceremony, held at the Jinnah Convention Center, celebrated the hard work and dedication of more than 500 graduates, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. In his address, Gilani called on the graduates to rise to the challenge of a changing world, armed with knowledge, innovation, and commitment to national progress.

In his speech, Gilani focused on the role of universities in equipping students with skills that can meet changing demands in job markets, driven by technological advances such as AI, the block chain, and the Internet of Things. He emphasized the importance of cognitive, socio-emotional, and digital learning skills to ensure employability in this new era.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also quoted renowned futurist Alvin Toffler, who said that “illiterates” of the 21st century would be those who will not be able to learn, unlearn and relearn. He emphasized collaboration between the government, academia, and parliament to see Pakistan’s youth thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

While paying glowing tributes, Iqra University Chairman Mr. Naveed Lakhani thanked Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for visiting Iqra University. President and Vice Chancellor Dr Nassar Ikram congratulated graduates and underlined the achievements of the university, marking Iqra the number one research citation on the QS World Ranking. Iqra has also been ranked as the fifth university of Pakistan in sustainability by UIGM and QS Sustainability Rankings. Iqra University offers great value to the students in terms of developing them as a composite professional so that they are successful in their careers ahead. He also mentioned international exchange programs under which the students are in Korea, Malaysia and Turkey.

The ceremony concluded with the awarding of degrees to a total of 1,100 graduates, including the first batch from the Chak Shahzad campus. As they go forth on their respective professional journeys, these graduates carry forward the values of innovation, excellence, and social responsibility that Iqra University embodies.

On behalf of the entire Iqra University community, we extend our warmest congratulations to the graduating class and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
