On May 7th, 2024, Iqra University successfully organized a CEO Talk titled “Successful Leaders & Organizations of Tomorrow,” featuring Mr. Umar Ahsan Khan, the esteemed CEO & MD of Dawlance Group.
Mr. Khan shared his unique perspective on success, stating, “Success is doing things that make you happy. How many lives I impacted positively is what success is to me.” Mr. Khan emphasized that there is no shortcut to success and that mentorship plays a crucial role. He also unveiled his valuable “12 Ps of Success” framework for students, a roadmap for personal and professional fulfillment.
The “12 Ps of Success” include purpose, passion, purity, perseverance, positivity, proactiveness, problem-solving mindset, presence of mind, prioritizing oneself, people-orientation skills, patience, and prayers.
Mr. Khan offered a refreshing perspective on leadership, defining it as “Inspiring, motivating, enabling, and integrating.” He stressed that true leadership stems from winning hearts, not simply commanding authority. He also highlighted the importance of soft skills for leadership, such as honesty, humility, empathy, respect, and compassion.
Underlining the need for continuous learning, Mr. Khan advocated for a “learn, unlearn, relearn” approach and adaptability. He identified successful organizations of tomorrow as those that prioritize purpose, people, products, and then profit.
The CEO Talk concluded with an inspiring message encouraging students to embrace entrepreneurship. Mr. Khan reframed failure as a stepping stone to success, urging students to learn from setbacks and pursue their aspirations with tenacity.
