IU-ORIC Hosts 5th Steering Committee Meeting to Strengthen Industry-Academia Collaboration

IU- ORIC (Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization) strengthening its commitment to industry-academia bridging by holding its 5th Steering Committee Meeting on December 16, 2024. The meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Nassar Ikram, brought together a distinguished group of industry leaders on a hybrid platform. These included Mr. Ali Syed (CEO of The Designer), Mr. Muhammad Asif Iqbal (Managing Director of SPDC), Mr. Muhammad Nouman Khan (GM of K Electric), Mr. Shamsul Islam Khan (Former Vice President of KCCI), IU Deans and Directors

ORIC Manager Zareesh Zahra presented a remarkable progress review of ORIC, highlighting key milestones such as the IP Success Story and the development of success stories to showcase achievements. She also provided a detailed update on the industrial visits initiated by ORIC and shared the comprehensive plan for the second round of the Faculty Industry Engagement Program. Ms. Zahra further elaborated on the academic linkages established through IU ORIC’s active participation in multiple forums and outlined the current focus areas, including strategies for advancing research commercialization efforts. Dr. Nassar emphasized the importance of adopting a multidisciplinary approach and fostering independent thinking among students & faculty to prepare them for addressing real-world challenges effectively.

IU ORIC is thrilled to announce that 4 innovative packaging designs from IU have been granted design patents by the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO). A special endorsement to Dr. Baber Khan from the Media Sciences Department for his exceptional contributions.
