Recently, Iqra University had the distinct privilege of hosting one of Pakistan’s most celebrated cultural icons: Mr. Jimmy Engineer. In a special meeting with Ms. Imaan Hunaid Lakhani, the world-renowned artist and social worker discussed the powerful intersection of creative expression and quality education.
A Visionary with a Global Canvas
Since launching his professional career in 1976, Mr. Engineer has built a breathtaking portfolio. With over 3,000
paintings, 1,000 calligraphies, and exhibitions spanning more than 30 countries, his artistic brilliance is unquestionable
Yet, his true masterpiece is his humanitarian work. He has led hundreds of awareness programmes for orphans and persons with disabilities, donating over 700,000 prints to charity. He lives by a simple but profound motto: “To be a good human being is better than being a great artist.” His lifelong dedication has earned him over 130 awards, including Pakistan’s prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz (2005) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (2025).

During his visit, Mr. Engineer and Ms. Lakhani explored the vital role that educational institutions play in shaping a compassionate, forward-thinking society. He praised Iqra University’s modern approach to learning and its dedication to academic excellence. The conversation highlighted a mutual belief that true societal growth happens when students are encouraged to value social responsibility just as highly as their academic success.
