Dr. Farhana Niazi is a dedicated researcher, journalist, and blogger with a profound commitment to the field of mass communication. She holds a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Karachi, which she completed in 2023, following a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Jinnah University for Women. Her academic and professional journey reflects her passion for research, teaching, and content creation.
She imparts her knowledge and expertise to the next generation of media professionals. In addition to her teaching role, she is engaged in a nine-month fellowship with the Individual Land and organization, focusing on curbing anti-women propaganda through the creation of video documentaries for digital platforms.
Dr. Farhana Niazi has an extensive background in journalism, having contributed as a content editor at karmuqabla.com since October 2020. She has also written articles for various esteemed platforms, including Daily Jang, Express.com, and Khabarkahani.com. Her insightful writings explore a range of topics, showcasing her ability to address critical social issues. Her professional experience includes significant roles at several media organizations. She worked as a copy editor at AAJ TV from July 2016 to November 2017, where she was responsible for writing and sub-editing news packages, producing headlines, and conducting voiceovers. She has also freelanced as a reporter for News Lens Pakistan and served as a content writer, translator, and editor for BBC Urdu Service from July 2015 to July 2016 and Work in ARY NEWS.
Dr. Niazi has a strong foundation in training and skill development, having participated in numerous workshops and training programs focused on journalism, media ethics, gender equity, and mobile journalism. Her commitment to professional development is evident in her completion of various training sessions, including a recent workshop on curbing anti-women propaganda organized by Individualland.
Her research interests lie in the impact of media representations on societal issues, particularly focusing on the publication of female rape cases in Pakistan. Her scholarly work has been published in reputable journals, including the Habibia Islamicus, where she examined the influence of media on perceptions of women in Islamic society. She is a member of Karachi Press Club and Karachi Union of Journalists.
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Dr. Niazi is passionate about reading, exploring digital content, and engaging with contemporary issues in mass communication. Her contributions to the field are underscored by her unwavering commitment to promoting gender equity and advocating for women’s rights through journalism and research. Dr. Farhana Niazi continues to inspire and empower others in her quest to create a more informed and equitable society.
