In celebration of International Mother Earth Day, students and faculty from Iqra University Gulshan Campus joined hands with WWF–Pakistan Wetland Centre to organize a Karachi Beach Cleanliness Drive. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about environmental preservation and promote sustainable practices among youth.
The event brought together enthusiastic volunteers who actively participated in cleaning up the beach, collecting waste materials, and spreading the message of environmental responsibility. With the bright Karachi sun above, students showcased remarkable teamwork and passion for restoring the beauty of our coastal environment.
Following the cleanup, participants took part in a mangrove plantation activity, contributing directly to coastal restoration and combating climate change. The mangrove trees, known for protecting shorelines and supporting marine ecosystems, symbolize hope and resilience—values deeply rooted in Iqra University’s commitment to sustainability.
This initiative reflected the university’s ongoing dedication to creating socially responsible citizens who understand the importance of environmental stewardship. Through such activities, Iqra University continues to bridge academia and community engagement, inspiring future leaders to take meaningful action.
The ORIC and FORA teams of Iqra University extended their gratitude to all participants and partner organizations for making the event a success. The day concluded with smiles, learning, and a shared pledge to keep the Earth clean, green, and thriving for generations to come.
