At Iqra University, students were recently engaged in an insightful and honest session with one of Pakistan’s most recognized digital content creators, Irfan Junejo. Rather than presenting overnight success, the session unfolded the reality of building a creative career—rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and consistency.
Where It All Began
Irfan Junejo’s journey did not start with a camera or social media. It began on the football field. With a strong passion for sports, he actively played football and later became part of launching a football academy in 2013. Alongside football, photography slowly entered his life, sparking an early interest in visual storytelling.
Academic Choices and Honest Reflection
During his academic journey, Irfan applied to Media Sciences at Iqra University but eventually chose BBA instead. Reflecting on this decision, he openly shared that Media Sciences would have aligned more closely with his creative interests. While he holds no regrets, he emphasized a key lesson for students: choosing a field that excites you can make your learning journey more meaningful.
Stepping into Content Creation
In 2016, Irfan uploaded his first YouTube video. Before that, he was already creating short stories on Snapchat, which helped him understand audience behavior and engagement. By 2017, he began structuring his content more intentionally—learning scripting, pacing, and storytelling.
One of his early videos reached 54,000 views, yet earned only six dollars. This experience became a reality check, teaching him that views alone do not define success. Skill development, consistency, and learning matter far more than early numbers.
Growth Through Collaboration and Experience
Irfan’s journey gained momentum through collaborations with established creators, including Mooroo, and professional projects with Islamabad United during the PSL season. These experiences exposed him to industry-level workflows, professionalism, and the importance of creative discipline.
Evolving with Platforms and Audiences
Over time, Irfan realized he did not want to limit himself to documentaries or traditional vlogging. During COVID, he launched a second channel and experimented heavily with formats. Post-pandemic, his focus shifted toward short-form, high-production Instagram reels.
He highlighted how understanding thumbnails, sound effects, hooks, and audience psychology transformed his content. Today, with over 1.2 million followers, his work reflects clarity, innovation, and strategic storytelling.
Monetization and Brand Ethics
Addressing monetization, Irfan advised students not to rush into brand collaborations. He shared that he did not charge brands until he built credibility. Pricing, he explained, should be based on value, demand, and usage rights, not just follower count. Authenticity, he stressed, is the foundation of long-term success.
Creative Philosophy
According to Irfan, editing is the language of content. Typography, music selection, and sound design play a vital role in how stories are perceived. Expensive equipment is secondary—vision and creativity matter more. By focusing on niches such as football, technology, cameras, and cinematography, he was able to generate over 200 content ideas without losing originality.
Advice for Iqra University Students
For students aspiring to enter digital media or entrepreneurship, Irfan’s advice was clear: – Do not obsess over views for the first six months – Focus on learning and originality – Stay consistent without forcing a routine – Learn practically alongside academics
As he summed it up: > “Dil ka kaam dil pe lagta hai.”
Reflection on Iqra University
Sharing his perspective on Iqra University, Irfan spoke positively about the institution’s growth and supportive environment. He encouraged students to be more independent, support each other’s creative journeys, and focus on practical application of their skills.
He concluded the session with a powerful reminder: Sar neeche, kaam upar.
This session served as a strong reminder that content creation is not just a trend, but a viable career path—when pursued with honesty, passion, and purpose.
