Iqra University traces its genesis to January 1998 and was chartered by the Government of Sindh through Sindh Ordinance VI of 2000. It is a multi-campus private university with a presence in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Islamabad, committed to providing quality higher education at an affordable cost.

IU offers more than 40 undergraduate and postgraduate programs across disciplines such as Business, Computer Science & Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Media & Communication, Fashion Design, Education, Social Sciences, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences. Programs run across several Karachi campuses (Main, Gulshan, North, M-9, Airport) and at Islamabad and Hyderabad sites.

All programs are recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and accredited, by national and provincial councils, including the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC), National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE), Pharmacy Council Pakistan (PCP), Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC), Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC), and the National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC), ensuring regulatory compliance and professional standards for graduates.

Iqra University now boasts a growing global presence: it is ranked in the 801-1000 band of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. On the regional front, it is placed in the 411-420 band in the QS Asia rankings. Building on sustainability and global engagement, the university’s visibility in meaningful metrics such as research citations, H-index, international outlook and green-metric performance continues to strengthen, which is reflected in its selection as one of the Top-8 finalists globally in the QS ReImagine Education Impact Skills Challenge 2024.
