Associate Professor

Interms of my educational background, I hold aPh.D. in Biochemistry from the Departmentof Biochemistry, University ofKarachi, with a remarkable CGPA of4. I conducted my research on the “Identification of Novel Inhibitors of Tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase andIndoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase by Computational and Experimental Approaches.”

MyM.Phil. (Master of Philosophy) in Biochemistry from the same institutionfocused on the “Effects of Alcohol& Antidepressants on Tryptophan Metabolism & Disposition in Stressed& Unstressed Rats.”

Ialso possess a Master of Science (M.Sc.)in Biochemistry, where she achieved a 1st Division, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biochemistry, with a2nd Division. I completed my Pre-Medical Intermediate and Matriculation(Science) with 1st Divisions.

Holding a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi, with a focus on identifying novel inhibitors of tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase, I significantly contributed to the understanding of biochemical pathways. With a wealth of teaching experience, including roles as an Assistant Professor at Iqra University and the Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology, I have imparted knowledge in the domains of Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, and Biochemistry. The extensive research portfolio encompasses studies on neuropharmacology, the effects of antidepressants and alcohol on tryptophan metabolism, and molecular docking analyses. As prolific author, I have published research papers in reputable journals, addressing critical issues such as the association of chronic pain with mental health. Throughout the professional journey, active participation in conferences and workshops underscores a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, solidifying I standing as a respected figure in the academic and research community.”

Interms of research experience, I have been a Ph.D. Research Scholar and aM.Phil. Research Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry, University ofKarachi, during which she worked on diverse projects related to tryptophanmetabolism and its implications.Myextensive expertise includes skills in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC-ISOCRATIC), Fluorimeter, Spectrophotometer, and Molegro Virtual Docking(MVD) software, among others.

 

I am a dedicated professional with a passionfor research and teaching in the field of Biochemistry. My work has contributedsignificantly to our understanding of tryptophan metabolism and its relevanceto various physiological conditions. I continue to be an active and valuedmember of the academic and research community.

Publications & Research Work

Dr. Muhammad Shahnawaz Adil

Dr. Muhammad Shahnawaz Adil is an Associate Professor of Leadership and Strategic Management at Iqra University, Karachi. He holds more than 17 years of full-time university teaching, research, mentorship, and graduate thesis supervision experience. Additionally, he has been serving as the Cluster Head (Management) since January 2020 at the Main Campus. He is currently a member of the advisory and review boards of 18 national and international scholarly journals. 

He has presented various research ideas at international conferences abroad and has published over 25 research papers in national and international journals with 700+ Google citations. He has also authored a monograph on Leadership and Strategy published in Germany. He is an HEC-approved PhD supervisor and five Ph.D. candidates are going to complete their doctoral thesis under his sole supervision. In addition to supervising several industrial projects, 32 MPhil and hundreds of MBA students have successfully passed their research thesis in the Management discipline under his sole supervision. His research interests include the dark side of leadership, workplace mistreatment, multilevel modeling, and creative performance in higher education. He completed a ten-day comprehensive Training of Trainers conducted by Sindh HEC in May 2023.

Dr. Shahnawaz earned his Ph.D. degree in Management from an AACSB and AMBA-accredited business school of Malaysia in 2021. Earlier, he received his MPhil from Iqra University, a ‘triple-crown’ (AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS-accredited) MBA from Newcastle University (UK), Postgraduate Diploma from Stratford College London (UK), and B.Sc. (Honours) with Distinction from London Metropolitan University, UK. He has secured seven consecutive distinctions in his academic career and has clinched First Class First Position at Sindh Board of Technical Education. He has been associated with Iqra University as a permanent faculty member in the Department of Business Administration since August 2008. His main hobbies include horse-riding, playing scrabble, cooking, bird-farming, and long driving.

Iam contributed significantly to her field, with a number of notable publications(13) in reputable journals. Some of my recent works include research on theassociation of chronic ache with depression and anxiety, and investigationsinto the kynurenine pathway of tryptophan metabolism in major depressivedisorder.
