Karachi Arts Council, Sunday 1st of April: Another momentous event was hosted by Iqra University Students Council namely PAWNAY 14 AUGUST a play written by none other than the legendary Mr. Anwar Maqsood one Pakistan’s most famous and beloved writers, and directed by Dawar Mehmood who is a rising Star of the Pakistani theater scene, along with the rest of the Kopykats team. Among the attendees were prominent members of Iqra University’s faculty. Students and their families.

The play takes place in modern day Pakistan where 3 strangers arrive in Karachi on the 11th and roam about till the 15th of August and are waiting to board a flight to Lahore, in the air port lounge the strange gentlemen encounter  many a colorful character from workers of political parties to Film/TV actresses but to their dismay no one is able to recognize these gentlemen from the past as they are none other than the founding fathers of our very nation i.e Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Allama Iqbal, and Mohammad Ali Jinnah. The play depicts the current state of affairs in our country, this state of affairs greatly saddens the founding fathers who eventually find hope in a youth the meet in that waiting lounge.

It was a wonderfully executed drama by the Kopykats team specially the core team Mujtaba Ali, Umer Sultan, Hareem Farooq, Asfandyar Munir, Talal Jillani, Mehmoona Sultan, and Sher Ali Minallah, and how can we forget the captain of the ship Dawar Mehmood, all of whom put forth such a heart rending performance. Last but not the least a warm and hearty congratulations to the IU Students Council who did a wonderful job and played an important role in the organization of the whole event. Finally a great many thanks to Mr. Anwar Maqsood who filled our minds with deep thoughts about changing our country for the better and filled our hearts wit emotion and renewing our love for our homeland.
