Degree Awarding Ceremony 2013

Iqra University Islamabad Campus is planning to hold its Degree awarding ceremony in May, 2013. All the students graduated till Fall-2012 semester are eligible to attend the ceremony.
General Guidelines:
1. Please make sure that before you come for Degree Awarding ceremony registration, you have:
• Taken your final clearance from all the departments
• Taken your official transcript
• Paid the fee (convocation fee, degree and any other outstanding dues)
2. You can receive the registration form from student office personally or you can download it from the website www.iqraisb.edu.pk.
3. Please complete the form in BLOCK CAPITALS and put a tick in the appropriate answer box where a choice is offered.
4. Last date for ceremony registration is April 5, 2013 (including the project awaited students).
5. Convocation fee is Rs.3,000/- (In form of separate demand draft in favor of Iqra University, Islamabad).
6. Degree fee Rs.6,000/- (in form of demand draft in favor of Iqra university, Karachi only for those students who have not already paid)
7. Gown security Rs.2,000/- (Refundable) In form of separate demand draft in favor of Iqra University, Islamabad).
8. A student is allowed to bring 2 close relatives (e.g. parents, brother/sister and spouse) at the ceremony free of cost. For additional guests, Guest Tickets can be availed at Rs. 2,000/- per ticket.
9. Please abide by the closing dates for registration as no late registration will be accommodated
10. Additional Guests tickets are restricted to a maximum of two tickets per student.

Dear Dr. Islam,

Adaab arz he!

This adaab has been arz-ed from the depth of my heart. I am working on an assignment based on Machiavelli’s Prince. We have to read 1000 pages on an average for our course on Politics and Public Leadership and then transfer it to a 1000 word scenario. It involves thinking, critical analysis, research and tools from previous readings. It keeps getting tougher every week. But no matter how tough a course, how rigorous the training, the statistical inferences or econometrical angles or research analogies we have to use– day in and day out I thank Allah for having directed me to getting a base from Iqra.

Iqra provided me with a world class education, the best of the best. And I can say that now that I am at an Ivy League. Which, very frankly, is just a brand name. I feel like transporting these students to a day in our undergrad lives and I’m so sure the Harvard, Yale, Columbia and Princeton undergrad will sweat. No matter how much we have to read, write, present or defend, there are some skills which can never be taught or learnt after a certain point in time. Iqra did that.

I thank you, and the amazing faculty you would go out of your way to put together to give us the finest. I look forward to giving back when I return. Had it not been for all the gifted professors, assistant professors and lecturers I had, I would not have been here.

Welcome Party FALL 2012 Semester

The smell of food, colors all around, and a beautiful ‘Desi’ touch, what a wonderful start it was for the Welcome party, fall 2012. Boys dressed in the Desiest of clothes and girls with their make-up to its peak, came in huge numbers to attend the electrifying party that had been arranged for them. The event started with a blistering performance from two of the senior students followed by new students coming in and mesmerizing everyone with their exhilarating performances. A cultural dance was performed by the students residing from Gilgit-Baltistan and a short comedy skit was also prepared by two of the first semester students. The crowd roared and shouted until there was no more energy for them to speak. The party was managed very well by the combined efforts of students and the Management working together. Everyone enjoyed to the fullest and left with a smile on their faces and joy inside.

International Student Design Competition 2012

Yumna Ali won the 1st Prize in International Design Competition organized by the Pakistan Chapter of the Society of Dyers and Colorists, UK. The competition was held in Lahore in October 2012. She will visit Hong Kong to represent Iqra University in December 2012. In Hong Kong she will participate in winners’ competition. In this event, winners of 25 countries will participate.

Media Censorship

Iqra University Islamabad Campus on Tuesday 16, October 2012 provided a platform for Express News Channel program ‘Siyah Sufaid’. The program was organized to conduct an open debate on ‘Media Censorship: An instrument of Oppression or Solution?’. The Chief Guests included Mr. Usman Zafar, Faculty member from the Department of Social Sciences from Iqra University as well as Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Media for the Government of Pakistan, Mr. Mubashir Luqman from Dunya News Channel and Mr. Matiullah Jan from Waqt News. Students of different departments: Social Sciences, Management and Computer Sciences actively participated and contributed to the discussion with the invited guests.

Consultation on Peace within Civil Society
